SHIUR is a non-profit & global community that brings people together through discourse and interdisciplinary programming. We create opportunities for participants of all backgrounds to collectively learn, build friendships, and cultivate new perspectives in a non-dogmatic, critical thinking environment. These events & initiatives enable communities to come together and learn in a much-needed safe environment
- SHIUR combats contemporary antisemitism in cultural institutions, academia, and other spaces by creating safe spaces & original programming for Jews and allies in Israel, Europe, and North America.
- SHIUR supports peaceful co-existence between Arabs and Jews by developing original partnership initiatives, workshops, and unique events & retreats with pro-coexistence leaders.
SHIUR events feature meaningful discourses at unique spaces where people of all backgrounds engage in original texts from theory, tradition, literature, philosophy and more.
SHIUR's diverse programming includes:

SHIUR has produced 360 events in over 25 cities since 2018
SHIUR needs funds to continue offering its high-quality, inclusive programming for free or at subsidized rates to students, people in need, and others who cannot afford our at-cost rates. Your support ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can access and benefit from our diverse and enriching events during these challenging times. Without SHIUR many of our participants would have no place to go to feel safe as Jews or allies.
We are raising funds for three vital programs:
Help Keep Jews Safe in Berlin and Europe! Since October 7, antisemitic incidents have surged in Berlin and other European cities. SHIUR is leading efforts to create safe and inclusive community events for Jews and allies in Europe. Your support will help us continue these essential programs that ensure a safe and secure presence for Jews and allies.
Support Arab-Jewish Sustainable Coexistence Initiatives! Amidst the recent rise in antisemitism, many Muslim and Arab voices have spoken out against Hamas, antisemitism, and in favor of coexistence with Israel and Jewish people. Unfortunately, many coexistence initiatives are politicized and marginalize moderate voices. SHIUR is at the forefront of bringing Arabs, Muslims, and Jews together in Europe, North & Latin America, and Israel for meaningful discourses, Shabbat dinners, cultural performances, and more. These events promote sustainable partnerships based on shared values, community, and humanism. Your contribution will support these crucial initiatives that transcend ideological echo chambers.
Support SHIUR Programming in Israel! Since October 7, SHIUR has been providing extensive programming in Israel, offering a warm and welcoming space for Israelis and olim during these challenging times. Our impactful activities have been featured in Haaretz newspaper and across social media. Your support will help us continue to be a beacon of light and community in Israel.
$ 1,000 - helps subsidize venue & security to ensure a safe space for SHIUR gatherings and events
$ 520 - helps subsidize 1 student or person in need to attend a SHIUR retreat or other 3 day program
$ 360 -helps subsidize 1 artist to present or perform at a SHIUR event
$ 120 - helps subsidize kosher wine and other kosher items for SHIUR events
$ 72 - helps subsidize 1 meal for a student or person in need to attend a SHIUR dinner
