We are a vegan sanctuary, a safe haven and a permanent home for rescued animals on 80 acres of rural paddocks and bush. Sherock started much sooner than planned when we set out to save the original herd who were still on the land when we bought it (due to covid lockdown delays) but due to be sent to slaughter. Many of those mama cows then turned out also to be pregnant and the facilities here were in rough shape so we definitely jumped into the deep end, and your support means so so much!
Currently, we have 20 moo kids as well as pigs, sheep, ducks, chickens, cats, and the occasional wildlife friend. We want to raise awareness about how awesome these kiddos are, and the intrinsic value of their lives. We are female/queer run with focus also on sustainability and protecting/ restoring the local environment as well as creating a safe, healing and empowering space. Our animal family were all rescued from animal agriculture or other situations where they were being abused, neglected or unsafe and are now much loved kiddos here ๐ฎ๐๐๐ท๐๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐พ๐๐ฑ๐๐๐ณ๏ธ๐๐ณ๏ธโง๏ธ
So donorbox is very new to us, and we are very much still learning how this works! We are located in rural Te Tai Tokerau in Aotearoa (New Zealand). We've been looking into donorbox as we have some incredible humans overseas - maybe you! - who want to support us with regular donations but haven't been able to do so easily due to barriers around paying internationally. PayPal is awesome for one off donations (under [email protected]) but I haven't found a way for overseas folk to schedule repeat payments like for Herd Membership or Sponsoring an animal friend.

Another option is supporting your very own virtual moo (or other critter) friend. Most of our kiddos are still looking for sponsors. Moo kid sponsorships are $15/week (NZD) but we are also super open to part sponsorships, sponsoring as a group or any other ideas.
Little bit about us: Sherock was founded by Emily and her spouse, Shay. Currently, they both juggle part time work with looking after the sanctuary. Shay works from home. They are awesome at cooking vegan food and DIY building things. Emily is a nurse and works in a unit at the hospital. She has a background in climate activism and has recently finished her masters in sustainability, health and wellbeing.
