Setting the Standard –
Let's Set the Bar for Clean, Safe Coastlines
Our coastlines tell a story.
Every plastic bottle, every lost fishing net, every scrap of litter — they’re not just rubbish. They’re evidence of a deeper problem. And they demand more than a quick tidy-up.
That’s why Setting the Standard exists.
We’re not just picking up plastic — we’re creating a blueprint for communities everywhere to turn small, local actions into systemic, national change. We work with schools, councils, volunteers, and waste experts to measure every clean-up’s impact: how much waste was removed, who took part, how many hours were given — and most importantly, how this evidence can hold polluters to account.
When we know the numbers, we can change the system.
Why this matters
Most beach cleans end when the bags are full. The photos get posted, the volunteers go home — and that’s it. But without proof — without hard data — it’s almost impossible to make councils, businesses, or governments take lasting responsibility.
Setting the Standard bridges that gap.
We bring people together to collect not just rubbish, but evidence. We’re building a model that any community can use, anywhere, so no matter which stretch of coastline you care about, you’ll know exactly what’s being done — and what still needs to change.
Your role in this
This work is community-powered. Every donation helps us:
Train schools and volunteers to gather meaningful, standardised data
Develop simple, accessible tools that make reporting easy for everyone
Build pressure on decision-makers to change waste policy at the root level
Keep coastlines cleaner, healthier, and safer for people and wildlife
You’re not just funding a project — you’re fuelling a movement. One that says: our beaches deserve more than a photo op.
Let’s set the standard, together
Imagine a coastline where every clean-up leaves behind more than just tidy sand — it leaves behind proof, momentum, and a growing network of communities ready to demand change.
That’s the future we’re building. And it starts with you.
