As we celebrate the return of the sunny days of June, the team at Wisdom of the Elders is hard at work in the classroom, media center, and in the field. From restoring habitats along the watersheds to training our latest cohort of ITEK interns, our mission to protect, heal, and sustain urban natural lands through Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge has never been more vital.
The ability of our media team to continue recording Native Elders, Storytellers, and Culture keepers, and to address climate resilience through film is made more difficult without financial support.
The reality is that the economic landscape for non-profits is under significant threat. Like many of our non-profit partners, we are navigating a drying source of funding that threatens the continuity of our programs.
To us, the health, prosperity, and sustainability of our land and community are not political—they are vital. As the climate crisis intensifies, the work of our workforce development teams in habitat restoration is a critical frontline defense for our local ecosystem.
