SCHOOL FEES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR 250 VULNERABLE , MARGINALIZED CHILDREN

HELP US RAISE SCHOOL FEES FOR 250 VULNERABLE CHILDREN

We're a Community Based Organization / NGO that offers free education to the most vulnerable children  at  Rhinah Kindergarten & Junior School.

We're located in Masaka City, Uganda where only 35 % of school going age children in enroll into government owned or aided schools.

There are a lot of challenges attributing to this, ranging from unsatisfactory education standards, over crowdedness, understaffing (Teacher - Pupil ratio 1:90) especially in rural areas, uncommitted personnel, uneven spread of schools, to mention but a few.

This leaves a bigger percentage of children in the hands of private schools. Unfortunately, the private schools are expensive to run as the government doesn't support them yet it imposes a lot of taxes on them.

As a result, the tuition and other school requirements are high, so about 45% enroll in private schools. This leaves a staggering percentage of 20% either not enrolled in either school ( Government or Private) or dropping out of school in a space of just two years.

About only 11% of children who enroll in government schools in Primary (Grade) One, sit for the final examinations after seven years. This particularly applies to rural and semi urban communities. Many drop out within the course.

Of the 11% who complete, only 4% are girls. Half of these will join the secondary level.

The school dropouts from both government aided schools and private institutions alongside those who never got chance to education form a bigger percentage than that complete - 60%. These don't attain any certificate of education and can't be appointed for any formal job.

Oftentimes the girls will be forced to get married at a very tender age to give boys a chance to utilize the meager family resources for education!

The sad fact that when women in Africa marry, they automatically belong to the groom's family, has left the girl-child magnalised, under privileged and considered less important.

It is in the view of the above and several other factors that Rhinah Kindergarten and Primary school came up with an initiative. Overlooking the financial implications, we determined to do something about the alarming situation.

We decided that upon every 10 Paying pupils we enroll (at the fairest cost possible), we enroll 4 pupils from the most desperate families. We choose the critically needy from our long queue!

3 out of the 4 must be girls. This way since 2008 we have seen over 450 pupils acquire basic literacy and numerical skills.

Due to the effects the Covid-19 pandemic, many parents are unable to meet school fees. This has obviously reduced the number of paying pupils and automatically cut down the number of pupils on the Rhinah Aid Scholarship program.

We want to use the funds to fix the gap.

Any little amount works great. You would like to be generous especially in this noble cause, wouldn't you?

See just how your contribution can bail out 1vulnerable child for a term (3 months):
