May 20th, 2024 Update!
We are so excited to share that we have had a couple community members with access to wealth who have committed to donating half of the original fundraiser goal! Thank you so much!
With these incredible donations, we are able to lower our fundraising goal to $100,000 instead of $200,000. We are so close to securing Kū'i'o's home!!!!!!
Please continue to spread the word to your communities and donate if you are able to.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email Kū'i'olani at kuiloani@gmail.com.
With love,
Kū'i'olani and family
Hello Everyone,
We are fundraising to help our Native Hawaiian friend, Kūʻiʻolani, buy her home in Mākaha, Hawaiʻi. This land has been in her family for generations and she is raising funds to buy the property and stop a public sale. A public sale would increase her home price beyond attainable funds, as median prices for single family homes on Oʻahu are over a million dollars.
As a Native Hawaiian, Kūʻiʻolani is genealogically connected to Hawaiʻi, the place her ancestors have lived and stewarded for hundreds of years. Recorded in the most recent U.S. Census, more than half of Hawaiians live outside of Hawaiʻi. What is Hawaiʻi without Hawaiians? Hawaiians are made to compete with a worldwide demand to live and vacation in “paradise”. For Hawaiians, like Kūʻiʻolani, Hawaiʻi is not just a paradise, it is home. Can you help her and her family stay in their ancestral home?
We already have a portion of required funds, but still need help reaching our fundraising goal of $200,000. Would you be willing to make a contribution to our fundraiser?
It would also mean a lot if you could share our fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure we get, the faster we will reach our fundraising goal.
We appreciate your time and help with this important cause.
