Save My Children from Hunger and War

My name is Jihad. I am 36 years old, from the Gaza Strip, and I am a mother of four children—ages 17, 16, 14, and just 4 years old. 

Today, we live in a fragile canvas tent. My husband left at the beginning of the war and never returned. I still don’t know what happened to him—some say he may be a prisoner of war. Since then, I have been completely alone, trying to keep my children alive in the middle of war, hunger, and fear. 

Every day is a struggle just to survive. We walk long distances to reach a small charity kitchen, hoping there will still be a little food left. We wait in long lines just to collect a little clean water to drink. 

Many days, it is not enough. Our tent barely protects us. We desperately need stronger shelter and materials to shield us from the harsh weather. In the winter, we huddle together under thin cloth, needing warm clothes and blankets as our bodies shake from the cold. In the summer, the heat inside the tent becomes unbearable, like a fire we cannot escape.

 My children are suffering in ways no child should. One of my sons has been wounded, and I have no access to proper medical care or medicine to ease his pain. My youngest cries day and night from hunger—we need consistent food like bread, rice, and basic supplies to keep him alive. I also struggle to provide simple things like hygiene items, soap, and clean clothing to keep them healthy. Even preparing food is a challenge.

 We need basic cooking supplies, fuel, and utensils for the rare moments when food is available. And beyond survival, my children are losing their future— Now, everything has been taken from us. I am doing everything I can, but I cannot do this alone.

 I am not asking for luxury—I am asking for the chance to feed my children, to treat their wounds, to keep them warm, and to give them even the smallest sense of safety and dignity. Your support could provide food, clean water, shelter, medical care, clothing, and hope for my children. Please, help us survive.

For many years, I’ve supported international organizations that provide humanitarian aid, help children and mothers, and assist families displaced by war. Since last year, I’ve been personally helping families in Gaza, witnessing firsthand the extreme challenges they face every day.
