Official Launch & 7,200 Indigenous Tree Planting Campaign

The Save Mau Forest Initiative will officially launch its environmental restoration campaign on 15th June 2026 at Nessuit, East Mau. The event will bring together community members, environmental organizations, youth groups, schools, local leaders, and stakeholders committed to restoring and protecting the Mau Forest ecosystem.

The launch will be marked by a 7,200 indigenous tree planting campaign aimed at restoring degraded areas, strengthening water catchment zones, and supporting biodiversity conservation within the Mau Forest landscape. The campaign forms part of ongoing community-led efforts to combat deforestation, climate change, and environmental degradation through sustainable, nature-based solutions.

Working closely with the Ogiek community and other local stakeholders, the initiative promotes indigenous knowledge, environmental stewardship, and active community participation in forest conservation. The campaign also contributes towards Kenya’s national target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 while inspiring collective responsibility in protecting the environment for future generations.
