In June, Saint Peters Health Partners announced their intention to close Burdett Birth Center, the only facility of its kind in Rensselaer County. The closure would threaten the safety of many mothers and babies while stretching our region's ambulatory services and medical facilities at a time when they are least equipped to take on more. Saint Peters submitted its plan to the New York State Department of Health in a mad scramble to avoid community input. We've established the Save Burdett Birth Center Coalition to make sure Saint Peters knows how the community actually feels.
Save Burdett is a broad coalition of midwives, parents, medical professionals, labor unions, and community organizations united in opposition to Saint Peters' revolting decision. Your generous contribution will help us stop Saint Peters from needlessly harming the most vulnerable in our community.
The Save the Burdett Birth Center Coalition is under the fiscal sponsorship of TIMBER, a 501(c)(4) public welfare organization located at 386 First Street in Troy, New York, EIN 88-2862920. Contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
