Fundraising Campaign - part of the program SAVE BAIT TARKIB
"BAIT TARKIB - House of Hope in Baghdad" is not a slogan we invented.
It is a comment of a young Iraqi woman on our promo, who we are and what we are doing.
It is a comment of a young Iraqi woman, who knows, who we are and what we are doing.
We launched the campaign to safeguard Baghdad's only art and design youth training and exhibition centre.

Challenges of artistic expression
Youth in Iraq and particularly young artists face many challenges in the development, production and presentation of artwork. There are limited opportunities and access to:
• new modes of creative expression
• extracurricular education and activities
• working creatively and independently
• mentorship and supervision in developing artistic skills and projects
• diverse artistic spaces where they can produce, exhibit and/or interact with contemporary art
The artist collective TARKIB BAGHDAD and its residence BAIT TARKIB fill these gaps
Statements of TARIB members
TARKIB is an organisation for contemporary art that consists of an artist collective that is committed to fostering creativity in the arts in Iraq, and to providing artistic opportunities for Baghdad's diverse communities.
TARKIB endeavours to offer a broad and high-quality program of artistic and cultural events, training and workshops. Since 2015 we have been organising the annual TARKIB Baghdad Contemporary Arts Festival and BAGHDAD WALK, a group exhibition in public spaces across Baghdad which first launched in 2018.

TARKIB has worked closely with the local community since 2015, recognizing the pressing need for a creative outlet that can alleviate the challenging living conditions of the everday and bolster communication in the community.
TARKIB aims to support the Iraqi youth to express themselves and to encourage social cohesion among them, by providing a safe space for everyone including marginalized groups such as children, women and vulnerable individuals.
Members of TARKIB and Iraq Builders: What BAIT TARKIB means to you?
Since 2017 the collective has run the creative arts centre BAIT TARKIB - the only centre of its kind in Baghdad dedicated to education and training, as well as the production and presentation of contemporary art.
Today, the art community in Baghdad is at risk of losing their beloved BAIT TARKIB due to challenges around funding. The consequences of the economic crisis in Iraq and the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic hit the collective very hard, limiting their ability to continue their public programming.

We launched the campaign BAIT TARKIB - House of Hope in Baghdad to safeguard Baghdad's only art and design youth training and exhibition centre. The ability of the collective to work in a long-term and economically independent manner is an essential prerequisite for the design of impactful public programming.
We want to continue and we need your support.
