We are at a crucial, pivotal point in our history.
As the only humane society in Monroe County, Mississippi, that practices no-kill policies, we have saved tens of thousands of animals over the years. If we disappear, countless animals will suffer.
You can help sustain us.
As a nonprofit, we have a $55,000 contract with the city of Amory. It is not feasible to continue to operate off of that.
The crisis of neglected, abused and abandoned animals is worse now than ever before.
Our yearly intake has increased by 35% in the past two years alone — to 703 pets last year.
Projected operational expenses for next year are over $300,000.
The city has, again, declined to increase funding.
It's time for us all — individuals, small businesses and corporations — to lock arms and launch a new, self-sustaining era.
How You Can Help
Do you want to help save animals? We're asking you to consider becoming a monthly donor, or giving a one-time donation. Everything helps.
Your donation will help fund operations, tornado recovery and infrastructure.
We need to raise $500,000 by December 31, 2024 — through monthly pledges, donations and/or grants.
We're looking for 1 to 5 acres of land, so we no longer have to use city buildings. And we’re open to taking on additional contracts with other towns in Monroe County.
What You're Supporting
A shelter that goes by no-kill standards. Executive director Misty Daniels has brought euthanasia down from well over 50% when she came on board in 2011, down to no-kill status of 10%.
A shelter committed to high, humane quality of life. We follow guidelines of both the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and ASPCA.
Finding furever homes. Last year, 70% of our animals were transported to areas with more adopters.
Reduced suffering. In 2023, we got more than 200 dogs and cats spayed/neutered — preventing thousands of potential stray animals.
A strengthened community — with programs such as pet pantry, intake diversion, education, foster, reunification.
It’s been your donations, and grants, that have kept us going this long.
You have been our superheroes.
Now, it’s do or die.
This is a welfare necessity for animals and humans alike. And we are going to rise, hand-in-hand with you.
