I am running for the District 2 seat on the Charleston County School Board. For the first time in our school district's history, we will elect all nine members of the board through single-member district voting. The brand new school board will then hire a new superintendent. It is time for a fresh start for our students, teachers, and schools!
District 2 is my hometown area and includes Awendaw, McClellanville, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and a large section of Mt. Pleasant. My husband and I live in Mt. Pleasant near Wando High School, and our two children attended CCSD schools in District 2.
As a very involved public education advocate in the East Cooper area and across the school district, I have the experience and knowledge to effectively serve on a board responsible for 50,000 students, 87 schools, 6,100 employees, and a massive budget. I bring to the table my ability to tackle policy and to competently navigate through school issues, legal requirements, and budgets.
