Help us raise £10,000 for the Ukrainian Welcome Centre.
115,200 displaced Ukrainians have arrived in Great Britain since February 2022 under the visa scheme, with a further 29,000 visas yet to be issued. 6.3 million people have been recorded crossing international borders and 6.6 million have been internally displaced with numbers growing by the day.
Figures as of 15.8.22 (gov.uk, UNHCR)
Why now?
“With Russian attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure increasing, we expect more people to seek shelter here in the UK. This places an increasing demand on our Centre, and so we greatly appreciate any help we can get."
- Andriy Marchenko
Director, Ukrainian Welcome Centre
Based at the Ukrainian Cathedral in London, the Ukrainian Welcome Centre is a partnership between the diocese and the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), working in conjunction with established Ukrainian community centres across the UK (see a full list of locations here).
How will my donation help Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK?
The Centre provides advice, provisions and ongoing support for both Ukrainian refugees and host families, including immigration and visa help, food banks, social events and English language classes. This vital work helps to ease the transition for Ukrainian families arriving in the UK, providing a friendly and warm welcome to those who have lost so much.
£10 will help to feed a Ukrainian family for a day
£25 will pay for much-needed positive experiences for child refugees, such as art classes
£50 will help us run community support groups for families to share experiences
£100 will pay for a day of crisis support services for a family in desperate need
£200 will pay for a six-week English-language course for a Ukrainian refugee
“We believe that the Centre is playing a vital role in helping the displaced Ukrainians, and that our credibility, expertise, and scalability make us uniquely positioned to meet the tasks of signposting, assisting and just being there for the newly arrived people".
- Right Reverend Kenneth Nowakowski
Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy (Diocese) of the Holy Family of London

A Quiet Night - Tyhoyi Nochi
Commissioned by the award-winning vocal collective SANSARA, A Quiet Night - Tyhohi Nochi is a creative response to the full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in early 2022 and the ongoing conflict across the country which has displaced millions of Ukrainian civilians.
Written by Ukrainian composer Natalia Tsupryk, A Quiet Night sets text by renowned Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan and quotations from one of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s many powerful speeches. Natalia’s new piece is a musical expression of solidarity with the people of Ukraine as they continue to suffer at the hands of Vladimir Putin: it is also a catalyst for connection, providing a creative vehicle for choirs to meet and sing with all those displaced by conflict in their communities.
In addition to raising money for the Ukrainian Welcome Centre, it is our hope that choirs around the world - amateur and professional - will learn and perform this new work, creating spaces of sanctuary and refuge to facilitate genuine moments of human connection. Find out more about the piece here.
100% of proceeds from the sale of the sheet music will be donated to this appeal, as well as 100% of SANSARA’s proceeds from digital streams and sales of the single.
