On Friday 17th March 2023, I will be running the Jerusalem Marathon in support of Isha L'Isha - Haifa Feminist Center and their 'Women Without Status' project.
I have chosen to dedicate this run to Isha L'Isha and this project specifically, to raise funds and raise awareness of the difficulties that women without status are facing here in Israel. I support and believe in Isha L'Isha and their work in creating a more just society for girls, women and the LGBTQ+ community.
The fight for women's rights is far from over and it's our responsibility to continue to work towards the liberation of girls and women, here and everywhere - now more than ever.
Who are the women without permanent status living in Israel?
Women without Status is a very diverse group with many intersections. It could be a trafficking survivor from a Russian-speaking country, an asylum seeker, a temporary worker that overstayed her visa, or a woman without a working permit who is married to an Israeli citizen. In addition, special laws apply to Palestinian women, regardless of their situation and needs. Most face a variety of issues and challenges due to a lack of access to basic rights such as health services, protective and welfare services and employment rights.
How will your donation support women without permanent status?
Every year Isha L'Isha provides direct assistance to more than 100 women and their children. Through this campaign I would like to raise $2,000 to cover emergency needs of at least 20 women and their children with basic needs such as:
- $25 for clothing and food
- $50 for urgent health services and medication
- $100 for legal and rent support
- $250 for reproductive health care
Every donation is important and provides for crucial needs.
Thank you for your time and support in helping us work towards a more just future for girls and women.
Please share this with family, friends and colleagues so we can reach our goal.
