I am calling my run - "Run with Last Stand"
What?
I will be running 140km in 24 hours from the city of Victoria BC, Canada to spaces where there is active logging taking place RIGHT NOW at Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek.
Why?
My goal is to raise $10,000 -$20,000 to spread awareness about what is happening in British Columbia and the world with Old Growth logging.
Where?
I will begin my run at the BC Legislature Lawn and continue along the Galloping Goose trail for the first 60km beyond sooke. From there I will be continuing along the highway to Port Renfrew and onwards to Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek.
Logistics:
I will have a support vehicle meeting me at points along the way and perhaps i'll even have some pedal powered support there with me.
I will begin my run on the morning of the 30th of October - assuming training and injuries don't hold me back.
Calories:
I will hopefully be taking 1 Honey Stinger Energy Gel every 30 mins and drinking 1.5 liters of home bone broth and mushroom team every 4 hours plus my water as gets into wet session taking rain gear with me - i'm trying to go fast and light.
Donation Allocation:
All funds raised will go to the Endangered Ecosystem Alliance (EEA)
https://www.endangeredecosystemsalliance.org/
They are doing great work and this will help them to do more of it. I would love raise $10,000 for this cause and another $10,000 for the Fairy Creek - Rainforest Flying Squad - to help with media and legal fees.
Thank you for your time and helping how ever you can =)
I've always had very strong connection with nature and environment, I worked as Outdoor Educator for 10 years .
The Endangered Ecosystems Alliance (EEA) is a national non-profit conservation organization founded in 2018 by some of Canada's most
experienced conservationists.
The EEA works for the science-based protection of the most endangered ecosystems in Canada, from grasslands to temperate rainforests, from southern deciduous forests to northern coniferous forests, and to promote ecosystem literacy.
We are working to protect at least 50% of the land and marine areas in Canada by 2030. Science shows that vastly scaling-up the protection and restoration of native ecosystems is a vital game-changer to help avert both the extinction crisis and the climate crisis. Research also show that protecting nature is vital for our health and to help foster a more diverse, resilient and prosperous economy.
Along with our national campaigns, the Endangered Ecosystems Alliance supports regional partners in their provincial campaign efforts. We engage non-traditional allies including businesses, unions, diverse faith groups, and multi-cultural outreach in order to greatly expand the total scale of the conservation movement.
A critical part of our work is to work with First Nations
organizations and communities to support Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCA's), while working to arrange key government and private financing to support such protected areas.
We engage in science and policy research, public education, news and social media outreach, and major public mobilizations.
We will ultimately be working for a federal Endangered Ecosystems Act to protect all native and endangered ecosystems across the country on a much larger scale based on conservation biology principles and traditional ecological knowledge.
