Why We Rock the Socks

We Rock the Socks to raise awareness for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic skin disease often called “the worst disease you’ve never heard of.” where everyday friction can cause painful blisters and wounds.

On February 22, Makenzie turns 10, and instead of just celebrating, she's rallying a team. From her birthday through Rare Disease Day on February 28, we invite friends and family to become Makenzie's Rocks; wear fun socks, share a photo, raise awareness, and recruit others to join the movement.

Small Actions, Big Heart, Real Impact.

All donations support families living with EB through the Rock the Socks Foundation and DEBRA of America.

How to Rock Your Socks (Step by Step)

  1. Pick Your Socks
Choose your craziest, brightest, or most meaningful socks. You can wear them as is or decorate them with drawings, stickers, or messages of hope.

  2. Put Them on Your Hands
Slip the socks over your hands! For Makenzie, socks once helped hold her bandages in place. Now, they symbolize her journey and stand as a sign of hope for everyone living with EB.

  3. Strike a Pose
Take a photo of yourself rocking your socks. Smile, get creative, or invite a friend or family member to join you.

  4. Post & Spread the Word
From February 22nd, Makenzie's Birthday, through February 28th, national Rare disease day, share your photo on social media using the hashtags #MakenziesRocks #RTSDD
     Tag: Facebook: @Makenzie.Cadmus
     Instagram: @RockTheSocksMakenzie

  5. Recruit One More Rock
Tag friends and family and ask them to Rock Their Socks too. Awareness grows one person at a time.

One week. One mission. One incredible 10-year-old leading the way.
Thank you for being one of Makenzie’s Rocks and helping spread awareness for Epidermolysis Bullosa, one sock at a time.
