In order to keep up with demand for our meals, we need to purchase a commercial bread mixer to scale production!
A 30 quart bread mixer would be used daily to efficiently mix and make:
Biscuits, cornbread, sourdough, rye, and ~100 other types of bread, as well as potato, chicken and egg salads, pasta dough, sausage, whipped eggs, local shredded cheese…the list goes on!
For reference: Making 100 servings of mashed potatoes by hand currently takes Chef Chad 1 full hour. With this bread mixer, we could make the same amount in just 10 minutes.
Help us cook for a crowd and become 6 times more efficient with menu items we make daily!
The cost of the project is $5000. A generous donor has committed $2500, paired with a challenge to other friends of Equal Plates Project...
The Challenge? To MATCH this gift by August 11!
Help us raise the additional $2500 so we can rise to the occasion and make more locally sourced bread, sides, and meals for our community!!
Meals will go to groups including Homeward Bound, HUD-subsidized senior residences, the YWCA, 12 Baskets, UMOJA, Medicaid patients through the Healthy Opportunities Pilot, and other partners who help get our meals to those in our community who face complex barriers to quality, local food.
