Rescuing and preserving the past of the English Midlands for over 50 years

Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings has been rescuing the built heritage of the Midlands since 1962, when a group of volunteers started the Museum by rescuing a timber-framed house from Bromsgrove dating back to 1450 which was about to be demolished.

Since then the Museum has rescued 30 buildings which faced destruction and transported them to our rural site in North Worcestershire, and re-erected them for the benefit of visitors from across the UK and beyond.  We have also been involved in numerous campaigns and restorations to preserve buildings on their original sites when this was possible.

The Museum uses the rescued buildings to show what life was like for the people of the Midlands in the past - especially everyday buildings which would not otherwise be preserved.  Our collection represents all types of peoples' homes and workplaces - not just those of the wealthy or aristocratic!

Avoncroft has done all of this without direct funding from local or national government - but has relied on the good will and support of millions of people who have visited and decided to support this work or from people who hope to visit in the future.

Please help support us by donating to the Museum's campaign to continue this important work

I haven't visited Avoncroft for many years (poor health) but I was appalled by the senseless vandalism you suffered. I hope my donation will help a little to repair the damage and your faith in human nature.

Bringsty church is dear to my heart, we grew up together and I and my family regularly attended here. Please everyone help and send a donation to put our church and the other building back to their former glory.

So sorry that you have suffered this mindless vandalism. An unfortunate sign of the times. I have long had a sympathy with the museum both in a private and professional way.
