Goal
Since entering the Oval Office, President Trump and his administration have been making good on their promise to attack trans people and their very existence. Part of that effort has been spreading incredible amounts of misinformation through the vast media ecosystem at the administration's disposal.
Time and time again, I've seen how accurate reporting that centers trans people and their stories with appropriate context can change opinions and break misconceptions. It is not an understatement to say lives, trans and otherwise, can be saved by people having the right information.
With that in mind, I ask that you consider donating to the Trans Journalists Association or sharing this campaign so that someone else can. I believe that their mission is an important part of combating the rampant attacks on the trans community, a community that has given me some of the people I cherish most in this world.
Below is the organization's mission in its own words, as well as what the donations will go to:
Five years ago, the Trans Journalists Association launched with a simple mission: to promote nuanced, accurate coverage of trans rights and communities in the media, and to support the careers of gender-expansive journalists.
That work has never been more urgent.
In the face of unprecedented political attacks on trans people and ever-shifting, uncertain news and media landscapes, we’re launching an anniversary campaign. Help sustain our efforts for another five years and beyond.
With your support, we can reclaim trans narratives.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 by our organizational birthday, June 30. Your support also goes farther, thanks to $2,700 in pledged contributions by our board and longtime members.
Here’s how your donation — no matter the amount — can help:
