This fall, students from six Darlington County schools will work with professional artists Mike Fowle and Darlene Faircloth to design and create large-scale sculptures made primarily from recycled materials.
The finished works will become Re:Made Darlington, a student-created public sculpture trail at Byerly Park.
Participating schools include:
- Darlington High School
- Hartsville High School
- Spaulding Middle School
- Bay Road Elementary School
- Lamar-Spaulding Elementary School
- J.L. Cain Elementary School
Through Re:Made Darlington, students will take part in the full creative process, developing concepts, selecting materials, solving design challenges, working alongside professional artists, helping construct their sculptures, and ultimately seeing their work displayed publicly in their own community.
The completed sculptures will remain on exhibit at Byerly Park for approximately one year.
