This year we are running our 5th annual free Ramadan Meal distribution to the vulnerable families from Thorncliffe park and Flemingdon park neighbourhoods. Each year more than 500 people benefit from this project and we have delivered more than 1500 meals. We started this project during the pandemic when concerns were raised around food insecurity in our communities and how difficult it was for some people during Ramadan period to get a hot meal. Among our recipients are seniors, immobile persons, persons with disabilities, single parents, front-line workers, persons/families have to isolated due to COVID, and international students. A group of community enthusiasts (we are a team of 17 volunteers) came together and partnered with TPASN to fund raise for the food supplies and packaging, cook a fresh traditional meal twice a week and distribute it to the registered clients.
