In Gaza, access to food remains a critical challenge, with conditions fluctuating due to factors such as border closures, restrictions on aid, and ongoing conflict. As of mid-2024, the entire population of 2.23 million people faced high levels of acute food insecurity, with half of them experiencing catastrophic conditions (IPC Phase 5), the most severe level on the food insecurity scale.
The availability of fresh, nutritious food is scarce, and when accessible, often prohibitively expensive for the average family. The situation is further exacerbated by disruptions in aid delivery due to security concerns and logistical challenges.
