Farm worker are the backbone of our food supply, working under the hard sun to ensure we have fresh produce on our tables every day, despite the extreme climate changes. The current heat waves are particularly brutal, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses and making their work even more dangerous. We must understand that despite these major climate disasters, the food supply has not been interrupted. We owe that to the vulnerable farm workers of our nation. But at what cost? Many farm workers lack protective gear, such as straw hats, that can shield them from the sun and reduce the risk of heatstroke and dehydration. Additionally, access to fresh food is limited for many farm workers due to their low wages, impacting their health and ability to sustain their labor-intensive work.
To show our gratitude and support, we are launching a fundraiser to provide straw hats for sun protection and cooler towels to prevent heat stroke while expanding our fresh food distributions and health clinics for farm workers in the hotter areas across California. Your contributions will help improve their working conditions and overall well-being during these difficult times.
Our Goal
Our goal is to raise $60,000 to:
- Provide Sun Protection: To distribute straw hats and cooler towels to 4,000 farm workers, offering essential sun protection and helping to prevent heat-related health issues.
- Expand Fresh Food Distribution: Expand fresh food distributions to the hottest areas that need our support. Providing fresh food for farm workers, ensuring they have the nutrition needed to maintain hydration and energy.
