Title: Protect Brazil's Native Bees: Pioneering VLF Research Against Radio Threats!

Main Text:

URGENT GLOBAL CALL: HELP US SAVE BRAZIL'S VITAL NATIVE BEES FROM INVISIBLE THREATS!

Hello, I'm Audemário, a dedicated citizen scientist and long-time astronomy enthusiast from Bezerros-PE, Brazil. Inspired by the legacy of the Astronomical Association of Pernambuco – A.A.P. (active in astronomy and radio astronomy since 1985), I've embarked on a world-first initiative that urgently needs your support: the "VLF Monitoring of Electromagnetic Effects on Uruçu Bees" project.

The Silent Crisis for Our Planet's Pollinators: Native bees, like our precious Brazilian Uruçu-nordestina (Melipona scutellaris), are essential for biodiversity, forest regeneration, and our global food supply. Yet, their populations are declining worldwide. My groundbreaking research explores a crucial, overlooked threat: how Very Low Frequency (VLF) electromagnetic signals – both natural and human-made (from sources like solar panels and wind turbines) – might be impacting their navigation, communication, and very survival. Science currently knows very little about these specific interactions.

Our Pioneering Solution for Species Preservation: Using specialized VLF radio receivers (Inspire VLF-3), my project aims to capture these electromagnetic signals and correlate them with the behavior of Uruçu bees in my urban meliponary. This unique blend of radio astronomy and ethology seeks not only to identify potential disturbances but also to develop practical, innovative solutions to protect these vital pollinators and preserve their species for future generations.

Why Your Support is Critical for the Environment & Bees:

  • Global First, Global Impact: This is the first study of its kind focusing on Uruçu bees worldwide, offering insights that could benefit bee conservation efforts globally.
  • Scientifically Validated: Our project has been officially approved and is active on SciStarter ([Link to your SciStarter project: https://scistarter.org/vlf-monitoring-of-electromagnetic-effects-on-urucu]), the world's leading citizen science platform, vouching for its scientific rigor and importance.
  • Direct Environmental Action: Your donation directly contributes to understanding and mitigating threats to a critical pollinator species, supporting ecosystem health and sustainable energy development.
  • Passion & Dedication: This entire endeavor began with my personal resources and repurposed equipment. My commitment is unwavering, but to scale this vital research and truly make a difference, I need your help.

Our Project Goals (Every Donation Brings Us Closer to Bee Preservation!):

To expand our research and maximize our environmental impact, we've set clear funding tiers. Each contribution empowers us to achieve new levels of discovery and action:

  • 1. Essential Research Tools (R$ 15,000.00 / ~US$ 3,000):
    • For what? Acquiring modern electronic equipment (laptop, camera, robust microphone/recorder) and an AI plan for complex data analysis, plus new, controlled Uruçu bee colonies to ensure scientific data quality.
    • Impact: Enables precise data capture, reliable analysis, and lays the foundation for in-depth environmental insights.
  • 2. Outreach & Awareness (Additional R$ 11,500.00 / ~US$ 2,300 - Total: R$ 26,500.00 / ~US$ 5,300):
    • For what? Covering travel costs (fuel, vehicle rental) for educational outreach to schools and institutions, promoting citizen science, and producing educational materials (flyers, t-shirts, gifts) to raise awareness among the public and rural beekeepers.
    • Impact: Spreads critical knowledge, inspires future environmental stewards, and engages communities in bee conservation.
  • 3. Dream Lab & Rural Expansion (Additional R$ 25,000.00 / ~US$ 5,000 - Total: R$ 51,500.00 / ~US$ 10,000):
    • For what? Constructing a proper masonry lab facility for secure equipment storage and research work. Also, covering travel, food, and lodging for extended trips to remote rural communities for lectures and data collection, expanding our monitoring network.
    • Impact: Professionalizes the research, ensures equipment safety, broadens our reach to untouched areas, and establishes the project as a vital center for pollinator protection.

How You Can Protect Our Bees & Our Planet:

  1. DONATE NOW: Every amount, big or small, fuels our mission to understand and protect these incredible creatures!
  2. SHARE WIDELY: Even if you can't donate, please share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Your voice is as valuable as a donation!

Your generosity will allow us to unlock the secrets of electromagnetic impact on Uruçu bees and contribute to a more sustainable future for all.

Thank you for being a guardian of our planet's most vital pollinators!
