Prop Thtr and Perceptions Theatre Company present

The National New Play Network’s Rolling World Premiere of

“Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation”

By India Nicole Burton

Directed by Myesha-Tiara

Produced by Olivia Lilley

“Through the lens of an African American woman who has decided to take a journey to understand herself more, the play uses the stories of 3 prominent women, who were a part of the Black Panther Party and Liberation movement of the 60’s and 70’s. The play uses their stories as a catalyst to explore the dilemmas, obstacles, and joy of African American woman in general. The play is a high energy, movement piece with poetry, monologues, dance, and song.”

Prop Thtr will return to producing live theatre in this co-production with Perceptions Theatre of Cleveland’s India Nicole Burton’s “Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation”. The production will be helmed by Perceptions Artistic Director Myesha-Tiara. It will be Lead Produced by Prop Artistic Director Olivia Lilley. “Panther Women” is scheduled to go into rehearsals September 2022 and open in late October 22 running through til’ December. It will run on the Southside of Chicago.

We are raising 30K to produce our most ambitious show yet. This funding will go towards paying artists, funding materials budgets for designers, and venue rental costs for the run.
