Prem’s Story
Prem is 9 years old and attends one of our Community Schools.
One day, his teacher noticed that Prem came to school wearing the same clothes he had worn the day before. And the day before that.
She gently asked him if he had any other clothes.
“No,” he told her. “I wash these every evening, and wear them again in the morning to come to school.”
His teacher shared this with our team, and we visited Prem’s home in the slums.
His parents are working hard to care for their family, but they struggle to earn enough to meet even their most basic needs. When putting food on the table is a daily challenge, something as simple as a change of clothes can become a luxury.
We want to help change that.
We are providing Prem with new clothing and his family with monthly ration support for the next 12 months.
By helping provide their basic food needs for a year, we can ease some of the pressure on the family and give his parents breathing room to save, stabilize, and begin moving forward.
Sometimes rewriting a story begins with something as simple as a clean set of clothes.
And sometimes, giving a family enough food to make it through tomorrow gives them the chance to build a better future.
