Goal
Outdoor Meditation Site
In the 1930s, A Jewish community built a spring-fed, concrete pool on the east side of what is now the Guru Ram Das Ashram. The pool was used for recreation until 15 years ago when the concrete sides caved in and it became a safety hazard. The water feature restoration project aims to restore the pool to a natural water feature. We envision the pond as the centerpiece of a larger effort to engage and be in service to the surrounding community. The water feature will serve as an outdoor meditation site and will irrigate the community garden. The community garden in turn serves the Free Kitchen and the Ashram Food Program, which works to build food security for the surrounding area. We see the water feature as a jewel at the heart of a conscious community dedicated to developing peaceful, healthy communities.
