Pastor Pearline James’ LOVIN’ Gestures Fund Supporting Caregivers. Honoring Legacy. Restoring Hope.
The Pastor Pearline James’ LOVIN’ Gestures Fund was established in 2024 to honor the extraordinary life and ministry of Pastor Pearline James—an ordained minister, lifelong caregiver, trusted childcare provider, and compassionate counselor whose life’s work was rooted in faith, generosity, and service to others.
For nearly four decades, Pastor James cared for Boston’s children and families, provided pastoral support to individuals and couples, and lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and unwavering love for community.
Created by her daughter, Denella James Clark, the Fund carries forward Pastor James’ legacy by supporting those who embody that same spirit of care.
The LOVIN’ Gestures Fund provides small grants to caregivers who are caring for an immediate family member—whether a spouse, parent, child, or loved one—so they can access the care they themselves often postpone.
Grant support may include:
• Respite care
• Mental health counseling
• Wellness and self-care services
• Transportation assistance
• Emergency household needs
• Healing and restorative experiences
Caregiving is sacred work—but caregivers are too often exhausted, isolated, and overlooked.
The LOVIN’ Gestures Fund exists to say: we see you, we honor you, and you do not have to carry this alone.
As part of Pastor James’ enduring legacy, the Fund also supports the Pastor Pearline B. James Fund at Urban College of Boston, helping adult learners age 45+ facing unexpected emergencies remain on the path to completing their college education.
The Pastor Pearline James’ LOVIN’ Gestures Fund is proudly fiscally managed through Give Black Alliance, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
