Harambee Kingston NY is raising $500,000 for the preservation and enhancement of the Pine Street African Burial Ground, which holds a special place in the City of Kingston’s history, serving as a final resting place for many generations of ancestors. Harambee is calling for funders, sponsors and community members to show their commitment to preserving this invaluable piece of the past for generations to come.
The PSABG capital campaign will fund the building out of the youth designs that were developed in 2020. It will include critical initiatives such as restoration of deteriorating grave markers, implementation of sustainable landscaping practices, and the development of educational programs to raise awareness about the historical significance of Pine Street African Burial Ground. Funds raised will ensure the continued existence and vitality of Pine Street African Burial Ground as a place of remembrance, reverence, and reflection for generations.
