Dr. Jose Parra understands that children are our greatest opportunity and greatest responsibility. He has dedicated his life to ensuring students have three core components in their education: Excellence, Opportunities, and Access.
Dr. Parra began his career as a high school English teacher focused on dropout prevention and at-risk students. He went on to become a principal, assistant superintendent and has served as the superintendent of schools in both Lockhart ISD and Irving ISD. Dr. Parra was nominated for Texas Superintendent of the Year in both 2013 and 2017.
Dr. Parra is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, and the Irving/Las Colinas Rotary Club. He has also served on the Texas Academic Decathlon Board of Directors, State Committee Chair of Texas Reads One Book, and the Texas Education Agency Commissioner’s Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education.
Dr. Jose Parra earned his Bachelor & Master of Arts in English from the University of Texas-San Antonio and Doctorate of Education from Columbia University. He and his wife live in North Irving, where he currently works as an education consultant.
