The devastation caused by the floods in Pakistan is biblical in scale. Even though donations from foreign governments and individuals are coming in, the distribution of food and medicine is greatly hampered by the loss of roads. LAMP is trying to work with resources on the ground so that our donations are making it directly to the people most affected. We will be publishing regular updates on this page noting the recipient of our donations and the work they are doing.
Our immediate focus is interior Sindh where the water is yet to start receding and the Indus river is expected to dump even more water in the coming days. We are trying to address the following areas
- Disease prevention and medical services
Mosquitos and water born disease are running rampant with the broken or nonexistent drainage systems. Children and pregnant women are the most vulnerable in this situation.
Our funding can ensure mosquitos get eradicated, people are provided sleeping nets and access to doctors and medicine is secured.
- Food Distribution
Not enough food from Karachi is making it to interior Sindh. The roads are inaccessible and unfortunately the few trucks that make it are getting held-up by on the way by the desperate populace. Our funding will help secure the food from local food depots and distribute immediately.
