Produced by Starr Foster Dance, Page to Stage is a cross discipline project combining the art of writing and dance. In the Spring of 2015, we launched a call for submissions of sudden and flash fiction stories to be created into, and inspire, new dance works. The response to the performances, and our Kickstarter, was overwhelming and the event was a huge success. We are excited to announce Page to Stage II to be presented at the Firehouse Theatre in Richmond, Virginia, December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2022.
For this second venture of Page to Stage, we invited 7 writers who shared poems and flash fiction stories to create a prolific and diverse program. One of the most exciting things about presenting Page to Stage again, is SFD has been be able to offer other artists opportunities. We feel that community engagement and connection is essential to the success of any project, especially this one. In addition to the seven writers, we have included 3 composers and 6 guest performers from the Richmond area to make the stories come to life.
This is a huge show for us and it is important to present the most stellar production possible. There are many expenses that go into creating a dance production that include costuming, printing, theatre rental, and designers. We survived the shutdown for nearly two years, but we need a little help with this production to off-set some of our costs. We know our devotees love a great perk, so we have set up this crowdfunding to get the community involved with our adventure.
