Would it surprise you to learn that overdoses, addiction-related issues and mental wellness needs have increased by more than 20% this past year alone? Substance misuse, addiction and mental wellness needs were already at an apex prior to the global pandemic. Sadly, these needs have increased exponentially during the pandemic, and are projected to have long term effects on future generations. As a new nonprofit, Hope and Serenity Recovery Community Center provides addiction recovery and mental wellness support services in Sussex County, NJ and surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide a safe and stigma-free environment for those seeking support on their journey of recovery, by enabling them to find their own pathway. We also promote our concept of ‘Recovery Life,’ which removes limits and constraints on what people can do and achieve in recovery.
We are a new nonprofit recovery center that will be serving our community, as well as communities around us. We offer a variety of services including:
- Recovery Coaching and Peer Support
- Links To Medical Services - Provide contacts to multiple local rehabs, clinics, mental health and medical support.
- Resource Center - Computers and wi-fi access, printers, telephones and office space to help with resume building, housing, and other recovery support services
- Re-Entry Support - Provide connections, resume building, ideas and options to help clients re-enter all aspects of society when they come from jail, rehab and mental health institutions
- Community Outreach & Municipal Alliances - Education and awareness events
- Workshops - Offer a space for outside organizations to provide relevant trainings and workshops pertaining to recovery
- Recovery Meetings - After-hours space for different types of recovery meetings
- Narcan Trainings - Train families and organizations on how to use Narcan and perform rescue breathing

Your donation will help us hire and train more staff so that we will be able to give every individual the support they need and extend our reach into other communities.
Additionally, we are in need of a vehicle to transport our clients to and from medical services, such as inpatient treatment, detox, and doctor appointments. The highest risk of accidental overdose is when someone leaves detox, jail, and/or residential treatment. Having a vehicle will give us the ability to pick people up and bring them to our recovery center, where we can provide safe space at this crucial moment in their recovery process. This will accomplish two things; reduce overdoses and make sure individuals have a network of peer support. We will also be able to provide transportation for those who need to get to job interviews, housing opportunities, and vital appointments. Your donation will help us better serve our clients and their families.
We have an Anonymous donor that will match contributions up to a total of $20,000. Please help us utilize this amazing opportunity to reach our goals, and serve the communities that we love so much.
