We are thrilled to have a full time OB/GYN surgeon on our Hope Matters Kenya team now. In order to successfully launch the opening of our Surgical Department to conduct caesarean sections and complex surgeries we need to complete the following steps:
- BUILDING: Construct the new surgical wing with 2 operating rooms, post-anesthesia-care unit, equipment sterilization area, and doctors scrub/changing areas. For this goal we need $150,000. We are excited to see how God is already providing as we work towards meeting this goal.
- FURNISHING: Equip the OR’s so they can be opened. Thankfully we have already had two brand new operating tables, a new anesthesia machine, and new OR lights donated. We also have a backup generator that has been donated and is in Kenya. We still need several key pieces of equipment (cautery, suction machines, OR trays) etc.
- PERSONNEL: We are so thankful that the Lord has provided our first surgeon. We are now praying for a general surgeon as well as anesthesia providers. We will also need to hire scrub techs and OR nursing personnel.
