Open Sound Zen Membership

As a member of Open Sound Zen Community, you support online and in-person practice, including Magnolia Zen Group and Tech Community Zen

Benefits. Members are invited to participate in committed Zen practices including dokusan (teacher meetings), koan practice, and precepts training. And you receive the benefit of supporting Zen practice in the world ♥️

How much is membership? Members contribute monthly at any level, starting at $1. For those who work, one idea is to contribute one hour of salary equivalent monthly. For example, if you work full time (2000 hours) with a salary of $80000 per year, a suggested amount is 80000 / 2000 = $40 per month. Yet whatever works best for you, we give great thanks for every contribution!

What does membership support? All proceeds go 100% to the operations of Open Sound Zen and its practice offerings. Those costs include online fees, space rental, supplies, business insurance, and so forth. The organizer and practice leaders are volunteers and are not compensated.

What do the membership tiers mean? They are suggested levels for donations, and you may select any amount that works for you.

Is it tax deductible? Yes, in the US. Open Sound Zen Community is an approved US 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN #42-2549447, and a registered charity in Washington State, UBI #606-228-411. Contributions are tax deductible in accordance with 501(c)(3) status. Does your employer have a matching gift program? Check with them about matching your contribution.

How do I give and who collects the information?  To give, use the form on this page or click here. We use Stripe and Donorbox to process contributions.
