Ordinarie Heroes (OH) is a Black-led nonprofit dedicated to addressing educational and health disparities in under-resourced communities and empowering young people not only to overcome challenges, but to thrive long term. The “IE” in our name stands for I’m Enough, because we believe that ordinary people can drive extraordinary change. At OH, community is our greatest strength, and we approach our work with inclusion, dignity, and joy at its core.
Our mission is rooted in empowering youth from historically marginalized communities through creative, skills-based education, collaborative leadership development, and holistic well-being. We also recognize that young people’s outcomes are deeply shaped by the environments around them. For that reason, OH is committed to addressing the systemic challenges facing our communities while building pathways for young people to lead, create, and advocate for themselves and others.
Our goal for this campaign is to raise a minimum of $10,000 to directly support our youth and community programming and strengthen the ecosystem of care that surrounds the young people we serve.
At OH, our youth-focused programs include:
• Weekly leadership development sessions that build confidence, decision-making, and communication skills.
• College and career preparation that helps young people explore pathways after high school.
• Reading and math support to strengthen academic success.
• Photography and filmmaking programs that empower creative voice and self-expression.
In addition, our community-centered initiatives address food insecurity and access to healthy resources through:
• A mobile food pantry distributing more than 25,000 pounds of food each year.
• An urban educational farm that provides fresh produce and hands-on nutrition education.
By supporting this campaign, you become part of a movement that uplifts young people and strengthens the communities they call home. Together, we can ensure that youth and families have the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to build brighter futures.
Superheroes do not change the world. Ordinary people like you do. Be a hero today and help us continue this vital work.
