Rainbow Youth project's Oklahoma Outreach Program was established to ensure Oklahoma's 2SLGBTQ+ youth community has access to the vital resources it needs.
The Oklahoma
Outreach Program
- Works with local, national, and international partner organizations and agencies to promote the health, safety, and wellness of 2SLGBTQ+ young people.
- Provides 24/7/365 crisis intervention and suicide prevention services through our national crisis hotline.
- Provides 2SLGBTQ+ young people, under the age of 21, with access to free mental health counseling and other support services throughout the state.
- Provides emergency assistance to 2SLGBTQ+ young people who are struggling with housing instability as an unaccompanied minor.
- Provides free legal consultation and representation to 2SLGBTQ+ young people in Title IX claims and other formal complaints of discrimination, harassment, and/or bullying.
- Provides emergency, crisis, and grief counseling assistance to Oklahoma families who have lost their 2SLGBTQ+ child to suicide and/or other acts of violence. This includes assistance for memorial and funeral services when the family has a demonstrated hardship and is unable to provide for those costs.
The Oklahoma Outreach Program also offers our Empower Peer Support Group Program for 2SLGBTQ+ youth ages 13-17, and young adults ages 18-30. These groups meet weekly and are designed to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where young individuals can connect, share experiences, and develop skills to navigate the challenges they may face.
The Oklahoma City office serves as home base to our national Transcend Advocacy Group which has a special focus on issues impacting transgender and gender nonconforming people. This includes working with local and national partners on legislative and policy initiatives, community education, peer support groups, and nonsurgical gender-affirming care assistance for those over the age of 18.
