Goal
Offbeat is one of the founding members of the Mara North Conservancy (MNC). Offbeat Mara Camp, Offbeat Riding Safaris and eleven other tourism partners, are committed to protecting and preserving this stunning land that the Maasai people call home. Through tourism, we play a vital role in generating a steady source of income to support the conservation of wildlife and interests of the Maasai who own the land. By staying with us, you directly invest in the sustainability of this ecosystem and give the communities a tangible incentive to protect the area and its wildlife.
Since its inception 15 years ago the Mara North Conservancy has gone from strength to strength, with a noticeable increase in wildlife numbers but the future is now uncertain. With the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic, there has been a total collapse of tourism in Kenya. This is having a devastating impact on the conservancy and there is a growing concern about the welfare of the Maasai communities that we support, who depend on the income generated from guests. The future of this beautiful and important wildlife habitat is threatened with long-term consequences. Without a solution, we risk losing the land, the wildlife and the people who look after it.
Your donation through our "Adopt a Plot" campaign will help fund the land leases so that the families continue to receive income and the conservancy continues to exist. Contributors can be confident that all the money goes to the Maasai communities.
