A collaborative fundraiser led by North Portland PTAs to support families across our school communities during times of crisis.
Why this fund exists
Families across North and Northeast Portland are navigating unprecedented challenges—from rising costs and food insecurity to the loss of critical public and nonprofit funding that once supported basic needs. In response, PTAs from multiple schools have come together to form the North Portland PTA Alliance, a shared effort to ensure families are not left to face hardship alone.
Public schools are more than places of learning—they are anchors of safety, connection, and care. When families are under strain, our school communities feel it. This fund exists so we can respond together, quickly and compassionately, when families need support the most.
How funds are used
Donations to this fund are pooled and equitably distributed across participating North and Northeast Portland schools, with each school managing distribution within its own community. Funds prioritize:
Emergency financial assistance for families facing acute hardship
Support for housing stability, food security, and basic needs
Direct assistance during moments of crisis that threaten family stability
This collaborative approach allows us to share responsibility, align resources, and ensure support reaches families where and when it’s needed.
Partnering with local businesses
Local businesses play a vital role in community resilience. Funds raised through community campaigns and business partnerships (such as percentage-of-sales events) are reinvested directly back into the families who live, work, and learn in North Portland—creating a cycle of mutual support.

We are North Portland families, caregivers, educators, and community members working together across school boundaries. We believe that caring for children means caring for families—and that collective action is how communities stay strong.
