No Penobscot County Jail Expansion

No Penobscot County Jail Expansion is a diverse grassroots community group united by the desire to see Penobscot County thrive through compassionate, evidence-based programs and practices that decrease incarceration and address mental health, substance use disorder, poverty and homelessness.

Our belief is that Penobscot County will be a safer place to live and work if the jail population were significantly reduced by utilizing diversion and other programs to address root causes of why individuals might be accused of violating the law, rather than building a new and much larger jail.

We welcome any and all donations in support of “a vision of Penobscot County that funds health, healing, and housing—not a bigger jail.” To help us to continue and expand our advocacy, here’s how to support us:
