Demalia's House of Hope will be a sober living facility which is a type of residence that provides a supportive and drug-free environment for individuals recovering from addiction along with those with a mental illness or developmental disability. It will be open to those individuals classified as an underserved, vulnerable population regardless of ability to pay. Young adults, veterans, women, and members associated with the LGBTQ community are all welcome.

Sober homes are a place where people can live together with others who are also on the path to recovery. They emphasize mutual support and skills development necessary for sustained recovery and reintegration into the community. In a sober living facility, residents are expected to maintain their sobriety and follow certain rules and guidelines. Programming will occur by myself, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional.

This proposal includes the creation of a diverse nonprofit organization with myself, my sister, and my wife. The three of us combined have spent over fifty years assisting individuals who are underserved and vulnerable in this country. Besides the experience we bring to the table, it is imperative we remain competent in providing diverse, equitable, and inclusive care. The two areas of focus that will be mandatory for all members that have a responsibility for implementing this program and ensuring it remains competent are Trauma-Informed Care and Cultural Competence.

With the help of your donations, this new nonprofit can start seeking state and federal funding.
