The mini grant will provide vocational resources in the NMS STEP program, Grades 6-8 are working to create their own on site Business Center to prepare the middle school students with hands-on skills and experience to prepare them for actual job readiness.
Students will use the laminator, labeler, and shopping cart to complete vocational activities throughout the day. Skills like using the shopping cart to deliver mail, pick up breakfasts, transport shredding materials from classrooms and offices to the shredder. The laminator and the labeler would be used to enhance language development skills as students use these tools to create picture and word cue cards for centers throughout the classroom with labels identifying the items appropriately for use by the students.
