What is this book all about?

Survivability, a friendly guide to the end of the world (as we know it), is the long awaited creative non-fiction book by me, Rob Fleming, a local celebrity and sustainability leader based in Philadelphia. It’s a tragic comedy that takes place in 5 acts.

The Book Jacket Summary

The rash of extreme climate events we've experienced since Hurricane Katrina are previews to a reckoning that few people are willing to acknowledge. In a world where climate scientists resist telling the whole truth about what’s coming, many folks don’t realize we’re at a crucial point in history:

Do we save the planet, or save ourselves?

Part roadmap to surviving the climate apocalypse, and part humorous confession of a failed sustainability leader (a fictional version of me) the book unveils a new and radical concept to save the future.

Survivability, A friendly guide to the end of the world, suggests that we are well past the point of reversing or even slowing the rate of climate change, and we will soon find ourselves coping with a dystopian decline into a complete ecological breakdown.

Who is Rob Fleming?
My name is Rob Fleming. Most of you know me as a 'C' level local celebrity and sustainability leader in the Philadelphia area. You may have seen me in staring roles like: The Co-founder of the Sustainable Design program at Thomas Jefferson University, or the Founding Director of the Center for Professional Studies at the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, or, the Director of Sustainability at FCA, a mid-sized architecture and design firm in Philadelphia, or, the President of the AIA Philadelphia Chapter in 2023. I've written or co-written a number of classic sustainability books including: Design Education for a Sustainable Future, and Sustainable Design for the Built Environment.
