Nanny's Nighties was formed in honor and now memory of my Mom - Sharon Atkins who passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 71 after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease. My Mom was diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 59. Her only wish was to remain at home and be cared for by her family. We were blessed to be able to keep her at home but many families can't do this and are forced to place loved ones in nursing facilities.
I formed Nanny's Nighties in June, 2021 after hearing many stories from our hospice nurses about ladies in facilities who had not even a nightgown. My Mom taught me generosity throughout my life and she would have given you her last dollar if you needed it. Realizing how fortunate she was, I thought why not help someone in need in Mom's honor.
Our mission is to distribute nightgowns to ladies in long-term care facilities who have no financial resources or family to provide for them. We have gifted 1,326 women with a nightgown, socks and personal care kit since our start. Each gift costs approximately $25.00 and we personally deliver them to each recipient.
We had 180 women in 4 local facilities that benefited from our organization in April, 2024 in honor of Mom's Birthday.
We are currently fundraising for our upcoming holiday distribution in December, 2024. We hope to distribute to at least 8 facilities and over 500 women!! WOW!! But we need your help to accomplish this huge task!
Thank you for your generosity and support!!
