The city is moving forward with their plans to redevelop the Arts Hub property and Make Salt Lake must vacate our current location before 12/31/2022. The good news is that we have found a possible new home, a 20,000 square foot industrial building in South Salt Lake. This location will be 4x larger than our current space and will enable us to expand all our workshop spaces as well as provide more community space for events, classes, and on-site member storage. This potential new space checks a lot of boxes on our wish lists, which can turn this move into an amazing opportunity for the Make Salt Lake Community. We have engaged a professional commercial real estate agent on a pro bono basis, who is helping us broker the deal with the owners of the space. In addition to the costs of making the move, there are many expenses associated with preparing the space for our specific needs, particularly providing adequate electrical power for our tools and equipment. The challenge is the requirements of the city and building owners that we use only licensed contractors to complete all power upgrades as opposed to allowing us to utilize the resources of our members and staff to do any of this work. In addition, the building owner reserves the right to select all contactors that will work to meet the operational needs of Make Salt Lake and code compliance for the city. We have had multiple bids for electrical work and have determined an unexpected additional moving expense of $60,000 for these power upgrades.

We have had multiple bids for electrical work and have determined an unexpected additional moving expense of $60,000 for these power upgrades. This is where you come in, we need your financial support and ask that you contribute towards closing the $60,000 gap for the power upgrades through contributions via Donorbox. You can donate individually, on behalf of a company or on behalf of someone else that wants to support but is not financially able. As always, all donations to Make Salt Lake (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) are completely tax deductible.

Select a one-time donation option or monthly donation contributions through the end of 2022, and remember, all donations, large or small make an impact! It might sound like a big number but with the combined efforts of our members, board, and staff, we can divide and conquer, reaching our individual goals together to achieve the bigger number.

We hope we meet or exceed our goal and if we raise more than we need for the move, all additional funds will go toward tool and equipment upgrades and service.

Thank you for your consideration and support for Make Salt Lake!
