Welcome to Be The Motherhood Village, where affirmation, encouragement, and community thrive. Founded by Daneita Blalock-Hudson and Jahlisa Murphy, we are dedicated to redefining the concept of traditional village support for prenatal and postpartum families, particularly within marginalized communities in Illinois, with a focus on Chicago and its surrounding areas. Our goal is to improve maternal health outcomes and provide comprehensive support to families during the transformative journey into parenthood.
Daneita Blalock-Hudson, a mom, foster/adopted parent, entrepreneur, community advocate, doula, and student midwife, embodies the spirit of resilience and compassion. With over seven years of experience, Daneita's journey has touched the lives of 150+ families, babies, and births. Through her business, 4theJourney Birth & Postpartum Services, she provides education, empowerment, advocacy, and community resources to families facing various challenges, including teen pregnancy, advanced maternal age, disabilities, infertility, and adoption. Daneita's collaboration with Jahlisa Murphy birthed Be The Motherhood Village, creating an authentic space where community and parenthood are celebrated and supported.
Jahlisa Murphy, known affectionately as "Tete Doula," brings her passion for serving and nurturing others to her role as a birth and postpartum doula. With a background in social work and a heart dedicated to supporting mothers and families, Jahlisa enriches the bond between parent and child through compassionate care and expertise. Her dedication to empowering families is rooted in her own experiences as a foster care alumni and professional auntie to over 30+ nieces and nephews. Jahlisa's mission as a doula is to provide exceptional emotional and physical support to parents-to-be and their families during the transformative journey of childbirth.
Together, we envision a village where families of all backgrounds feel a profound sense of belonging, supported by comprehensive care, education, and mutual aid. Through Be The Motherhood Village, we are committed to building a community that celebrates diversity, fosters connection, and empowers families to thrive during the critical periods of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood.
