My interest in running for Sheriff started when I was in Guilford County I was approached by a representative of a rather large group whom asked me to run for Sheriff. At that time I really did not want to get involved, I wanted to spend more time with my family I was already working quite a bit and called in for a lot of off-duty work, but the interest level was there. I was happy with what I was doing. After I retired I eventually started taking trips out to Wilmington first on vacation and then to help build the LegalShield business in this area. I eventually moved out here over 15 yrs ago and found Pender County as my home. I like Pender County because of the more rural areas which I've always been fond of. For several years with a partner I ran a social networking weekly meetup raising money for charities such as Love is Bald, Pretty in Pink, Catfish Hunter Chapter for Lou Gehrig's disease, Wilmington Junior Golf Academy and more. The one I was very proud of was when we raise over $7,000 for hurricane Sandy victims. I have to say that was not just my group but a lot of downtown businesses also contributed to that with the assistance of the owners of Hell's Kitchen on Princess Pl. During my time doing social networking fundraisers I got more involved with the Republican party both In New Hanover County and then Pender County. I help campaign for many Republican candidates and for President Donald J Trump. Over the past many years I've been heavily involved Americans for Prosperity and more recently with MAGA the Trump Victory Team and working with Pender County Republicans. My interest in running for Sheriff was sparked again during past several years when officers from the Pender County Sheriff's Department including Carson Smith whom at his suggestion I went in and talked to one of his administrators. My interest level has grown since he has been out of office. I see many things that I would like to get involved with in the community with my law enforcement experience to help make Pender County Sheriff's Department more efficient in responding to the needs of the people of Pender County. Most often I ride through Pender County and meet some great officers, shake their hands and have great conversations but I do see things and listen to people where the efficiency level can be greatly improve. The seeds keep getting planted when I continue talking to people and now I have been encouraged even more so to run for Sheriff for Pender County. I seek this position because I know I can make a difference in Pender County . I have been getting out listening to the concerns of people across Pender County.
