Kira is 10 years old. She has cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia) and epilepsy. From the very beginning of her life, she has had to fight challenges no child should have to face.
Kira was born prematurely after a difficult pregnancy. After birth, she spent one month in intensive care and another two months in the premature infant unit. During those first months, she also underwent two eye surgeries due to aggressive retinopathy of prematurity.
Later, Kira was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia. She also has stridorous breathing and a funnel-shaped chest that may require correction in the future. In 2020, another challenge entered her life: epilepsy, making regular physical exercise and therapy even more difficult.
Despite everything, Kira works incredibly hard. She has undergone many forms of therapy and courageously faces the demanding exercises and treatments that are part of her everyday life. Behind every movement and every small achievement are countless hours of effort.
The war brought another setback. The stress caused by the full-scale war in Ukraine led to the return of Kira’s epileptic seizures. She required brain monitoring and adjustments to her treatment.
Her circumstances have also made it difficult to attend rehabilitation centers, but Kira has not stopped working. She continues physical therapy at home, doing everything she can to maintain her mobility, flexibility, and strength.
Kira needs our help. She needs a multifunctional motorized arm and leg rehabilitation exercise bike with passive-assist functionality. This equipment would allow Kira to continue important physical therapy safely at home. Regular movement can help maintain joint flexibility, support muscle strength and circulation, and reduce complications associated with prolonged limited mobility. For Kira, it is another tool that can help her continue working toward greater mobility and independence.
Please help us give Kira the equipment she needs to continue her physcial therapy at home.
