For over 55 years, the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center (Manhattan EOC) has been a beacon of hope for adult learners in the NYC area. Our commitment to providing free education and workforce training has transformed lives, opened doors to new opportunities and personal growth.
Manhattan EOC delivers student-centered academic and workforce development programs and serves as a gateway to access further education, career achievement and personal growth in the NYC area.
Participants learn English, study and obtain their High School Equivalency Diploma, and complete one of our in-demand Career Trainings at no cost. Career Training students gain state or nationally recognized credentials in Electronic Health records, Phlebotomy, EKG, Certified Nursing Aide, or start their career in construction with OSHA certifications. In addition, we provide career and employment services leading to greater employment opportunities, as well as free college prep classes, and college application assistance to increase post-secondary enrollment.
Our Impact Beyond Numbers:
Our services are free, but there are some urgent costs that our students face. For these expenses, we have created the student Emergency Scholarship Fund. Launched during our 2016 #GivingTuesday campaign, the Emergency Scholarship Fund has been helping students with urgent needs such as food insecurity, transportation, housing, and healthcare.
While the Emergency Scholarship Fund is meant to assist our most vulnerable students, the Manhattan EOC impact goes far beyond this scope. We’ve distributed Chromebooks, tapped into stimulus packages, and provided emergency resources, ensuring that our students receive the support they need, even if not directly from this fund. From addressing food insecurity to distributing essential supplies, we stand by our students, offering a lifeline to success.
This #GivingTuesday, Let’s Amplify Our Impact:
In our last campaign we surpassed our fundraising goal. Your support can help us do the same this year. Give today to support our students reach their ultimate goals. Your support will go beyond emergency scholarships, addressing a spectrum of needs, including:
$50: Aids the first bi-weekly commute to a new job or school.
$100: Supports the purchase of work clothes or school supplies.
$150: Offsets the average cost of books per semester or a month of transportation.
Your Contribution, Their Future:
By contributing to this campaign, you’re not just giving; you’re investing in dreams, ambitions, and the future success of adult learners striving for a brighter tomorrow. Let’s make a difference together. Join us on #GivingTuesday, November 28, 2023, and help us reach our goal of raising $2,000 to empower students on their journey to success!
Thank you for being a vital part of our community’s success story!
