Shipping Container Customs Expense
We have a 40' shipping container that is on its way to GMAD, it arrives in Ghana on the 25th of October. We are very excited for the medical supplies and equipment, school supplies and plenty of other humanitarian aid products inside of this container (valued at over $100,000).
We partnered with a nonprofit (Lifting Hands International) to help us ship it out of the US. They paid for half of the shipping fees; GMAD paid $4,000 and Lifting Hands paid $4,000 to get the container to Ghana.
What we didn't anticipate was the cost to clear the container through customs. Because most of the items we send to Ghana gets carried in checked luggage by volunteers, this was only the second container we have sent to Ghana in ten years. The cost to clear our container is roughly $4,600.
We are hoping the you will help us cover this expense.
